Will County high schools getting added security protections at entrances.

Will County high schools are seeing new security protections added at their main entrances as part of a countywide effort to enhance student and staff safety. The Will County Regional Office of Education allocated funds from county cannabis revenue earlier this year to install reinforced security window film at one primary entrance and exit for each of the county’s 21 high schools. These laminated windows, provided by a company called Clear-Armor, are designed to harden the glass against potential attackers and severe weather, making access points stronger and more resistant to forced entry. School and county officials, including the regional superintendent and district safety directors, have been touring the installations and coordinating with individual districts to complete the remaining schools, with most projects expected to be finished by the end of the school year.
